Baltic Birch Plywood
Baltic Birch Plywood
Known as perhaps the most versatile hardwood panel product in the world, Baltic Birch plywood from Russia is the product of choice for manufacturers of cabinetry, engineered flooring, concrete forms, upholstered furniture, laser & routing dies, cable reel flanges, ATA & speaker boxes, toys, crafts and many other products that demand a continuously flat panel that will stand the test of time.
Benefits of Baltic Birch plywood:
Superior Screw Holding Strength: Composed of 100% Russian Birch veneer throughout, Baltic Birch has a virtually void free core that allows screw threads to bite and hold unlike panels that have softwood, MDF or particle board cores.
Thicker Face and Back Veneers: Most plywood products have super thin face and back veneers which are easily damaged and can be sanded through. Baltic Birch face and back veneers are much thicker, more durable and will not be sanded through.
Aesthetically Pleasing: The highest grades of Russian Baltic birch are B/BB and BB/BB. With these grades, you can expect uniformity of color throughout each panel which can easily be stained any color you choose. Cabinetry manufacturers often use an ultraviolet coating (or lacquer) to enhance the appearance and give it a glossy finish. Additionally, because each veneer in every sheet of Baltic Birch plywood is uniform in thickness, the edges are attractive and are often left exposed instead of having to apply edge-banding.
CNC and Laser Cutting: Because Baltic Birch plywood is composed of 100% hardwood Birch veneers, your CNC machining will yield clean dovetails, fingers and miters. The uniform density and virtual void-free core throughout the panel also allow low- and highpowered lasers to evenly cut without blowouts caused by gases accumulating in core voids.
Unbeaten Stability: Produced by pressing 1.55mm Birch veneers using a strong, ultra-low formaldehyde-emitting adhesive, the stability of Baltic Birch plywood is unmatched. Each veneer is placed at a right angle to the previous veneer creating a cross-grain pattern which contributes to the overall flatness and strength of each panel.
Moisture Resistance: Birch has a naturally tight grain pattern. Combining that attribute with the type of glue used for adhesion allows for each Baltic Birch plywood panel to be highly resistant to moisture which allows it to be safely used in a multitude of applications that other panels cannot.
Where Baltic Birch Plywood is Used
Wondering where Baltic Birch plywood is used? Let’s discuss the top applications:
Cabinetry: The superior screw-holding ability of Baltic birch plywood ensures strong and stable joints in cabinetry. As the screws grip deeply into the plywood, they help prevent slipping and loosening of the screws.
Flooring: The strength of Russian birch ply allows it to bear heavy loads without bending or cracking. Also, its multi-layered construction minimizes movement or distortion under pressure, even in high-traffic areas. This makes it a highly durable and ideal choice for flooring applications.
Concrete Forms: Baltic Birch plywood is a top choice for concrete forms due to its strong and layered construction. Its strength ensures that the plywood holds up under the pressure of wet concrete, preventing deformation or shifting during the pouring process. Along with its stability, the smooth surface of the plywood helps achieve a clean, polished finish on the concrete, providing the desired texture and appearance.
Furniture: The multi-layered structure of Baltic birch plywood helps it resist warping and twisting. This ensures that furniture, whether it’s sofas or tables, retains its original shape and strength over time, even under constant use. Also, Baltic birch plywood is easy to work with—it’s simple to cut, drill, and shape without the risk of splitting or tearing, which makes it a versatile material for creating precise, custom designs.
These applications highlight only a few of the many uses of Baltic Birch plywood. Its versatility and durability make it popular for countless other purposes across industries.
Product Specifications
1. Thickness Options
At PG Wood Imports, we offer a thickness range spanning from 3mm to 40mm of Russian birch plywood, offering versatility to suit a wide range of applications. Let’s break down the uses for various thicknesses:
3mm – 6mm (Thin Plywood): Thinner plywood sheets, ranging from 3mm to 6mm, are ideal for lightweight applications where flexibility is needed. Ideal for decorative tasks like veneering, it provides a thin, sturdy surface without adding unnecessary weight.
6mm – 12mm (Medium Thickness): Russian birch plywood between 6mm and 12mm offers the right balance of strength and ease of use. It’s widely used for subflooring, interior paneling, or small furniture projects where moderate strength is needed, but the material should still be easy to handle and shape.
12mm – 18mm (Medium to Heavy Duty Plywood): Unlike thinner plywood, the 12mm to 18mm thickness is designed for more demanding uses such as furniture, shelving, and cabinetry that need extra strength. This thickness ensures the material stays sturdy even when subjected to frequent pressure.
18mm – 40mm (Heavy-Duty Plywood): Plywood from 18mm to 40mm is the toughest option for heavy-duty jobs. It’s strong enough for flooring, beams, and large furniture as thickness won’t bend or warp under heavy weight.
2. Flexible Panel Sizes
We offer imported birch plywood in various standard panel sizes, allowing woodworkers to choose the perfect fit for their projects. Here are the available sizes:
60×60 Panel Size: This size is commonly used for smaller projects, where square panels are needed for things like small furniture pieces, decorative panels, or custom cabinetry.
60×72 Panel Size: The 60×72 panel is a versatile rectangular size, great for medium-sized projects like doors, furniture panels, or cabinetry. It provides ample surface area while remaining easy to work with.
60×84 Panel Size: Ideal for larger projects, this size is perfect for expansive shelving units, partitions, or large furniture pieces, as it offers excellent coverage without too many cuts.
60×96 Panel Size: This panel size is commonly used in larger-scale projects that require full-length panels, such as custom-built shelving, desks, or interior paneling with fewer joints.
48×96 Panel Size: One of the most common sizes used in construction and woodworking, this size is typically used for cabinet boxes, large-scale furniture, and general construction.
48×120 Panel Size: The 48×120 panel is often used for expansive projects that require long, uninterrupted panels, such as large countertops, wall panels, or kitchen islands. The extra length makes it perfect for custom applications requiring a larger surface area.
Cut-to-Size Option: In addition to standard sizes, Baltic Birch Plywood is available in custom, cut-to-size options. This is particularly useful for projects where exact dimensions are needed or when working with limited space.
3. Plywood Grades
Grading is important because it helps determine the quality, look, and how well plywood will work for different uses. Here’s a simple breakdown of the different grades and what they mean:
B/BB: The B/BB grade is considered one of the higher-quality options in Baltic Birch Plywood. The B face (the visible side) has a smooth, clean appearance with only minor imperfections, such as small knots or slight discoloration. In contrast, the reverse side may have slightly more visible imperfections.
BB/BB: The BB/BB grade features high-quality veneer on both sides, with minimal imperfections. This grade is ideal for projects where both sides of the plywood will be exposed, such as in furniture-making or decorative panels.
BB/CP: One side is of high quality (BB), while the reverse side (CP) may have more imperfections, such as small voids, knots, or patches. This material is often used for applications where one side is visible, and the other is hidden or not exposed, such as cabinetry with backs or hidden panels.
CP/CP: This grade is typically used for structural applications where appearance is less important as it features plywood with visible imperfections on both sides. Ideal for hidden panels or projects where the plywood will be painted or covered with other materials, such as in construction, flooring underlayment, or shelving.
CP/C: The CP/C grade features significant imperfections on both sides, including large knots, voids, or cracks. It is used primarily for structural applications where appearance does not matter, and the plywood will be covered or hidden, such as subflooring or structural furniture components.
C/C: It is the lowest grade of Baltic Birch Plywood, with substantial imperfections on both sides. Primarily used for construction purposes or where the plywood will be concealed, such as behind panels or inside cabinets.
4. Glue Options
The type of adhesive used in Baltic Birch Plywood from Russia is crucial to determining its durability and suitability for various environments. These below-mentioned are the two options we offer:
Interior (MR): It stands for “moisture-resistant” adhesive, which is ideal for indoor applications where the plywood will not be exposed to significant moisture or extreme weather conditions, as prolonged exposure could weaken the bond.
Exterior (WBP): The Exterior (WBP) glue stands for “Weather and Boil Proof.” It’s made for outdoor use and areas with high moisture, ensuring the plywood can handle different weather conditions without breaking down.

Cabinet Grade Plywood
At PG Wood Imports, we specialize in providing high-quality cabinet-grade plywood suitable for a wide range of cabinetry and furniture projects. We guarantee the highest standards of quality and integrity. Every sheet of our plywood is sourced from certified suppliers who meet the strictest sustainable practices, ensuring emissions regulations are exceeded, and all products are LACEY and CARB II certified.
With a focus on top-tier quality, our plywood for cabinets offers versatility for any woodworking project, from residential kitchens to commercial spaces. Trust us for dependable and the best plywood for cabinet making that enhances durability and visual appeal while delivering excellent value and long-lasting results.
Why Choose Cabinet Grade Plywood
Explore the key benefits of choosing this plywood for your next project.
Durability and Strength – Cabinet-grade plywood is specifically designed for durability. Unlike particle board or MDF, which consists of one compressed layer, it is made by bonding multiple thin layers of wood veneer together in a cross-grain pattern. This method enhances its structural integrity, making it stronger and more resistant to cracking, warping, and shrinking. For areas with high usage, such as kitchens where cabinets are opened and closed regularly and bear significant weight from dishes, cookware, and groceries, it provides long-lasting support. This durability ensures your cabinetry remains strong and stable for years to come.
Moisture Resistance – Kitchens and bathroom areas are constantly exposed to moisture, from water used in cooking to humidity in the air. One of the standout features of this type of plywood is its resistance to moisture. Unlike particle boards, which can swell and lose strength when exposed to water, plywood maintains its structural integrity even in humid environments. The ability to withstand moisture ensures that your cabinets won’t warp, weaken, or degrade over time, making them a reliable choice for areas prone to moisture damage.
Versatile and Customizable – Cabinet plywood is incredibly versatile and easy to work with, allowing for various design options. Whether you’re creating sleek, modern cabinetry or more traditional, ornate designs, plywood can be easily customized to fit any style.
Smooth, Finely Finished Surface – Its surface is pretty smooth and refined, offering an ideal foundation for finishes. Using stains, paints, or veneers, plywood’s texture guarantees a professional-quality finish every time. This fine surface also reduces the need for additional covering, making it suitable for visible areas such as bookshelves or decorative cabinetry. The natural grain of the wood can be accentuated through staining, or you can create a sleek, modern finish with paint.
Stability in Different Environments – Cabinet-grade plywood is known for its stability across a variety of environments. While softwood plywood can warp and bend when exposed to changes in temperature or humidity, this plywood maintains its strength and shape even in these conditions. This makes it particularly ideal for kitchens and bathrooms, where fluctuations in humidity are common.
Where is Cabinet Grade Plywood Used
Kitchen Cabinets – Baltic Birch Plywood, one of the best plywood for cabinets, among other cabinet-grade plywood, is a popular option used for building kitchen cabinets. Its strength ensures that the cabinets can withstand the daily wear and tear of a kitchen environment. The flawless finish of cabinet-grade plywood also allows for seamless finishes, such as veneers, paints, or stains, ensuring that the cabinets are both functional and visually appealing. Bathroom Cabinets – In bathrooms, where moisture is a concern, cabinet-grade plywood is an excellent choice for cabinetry. Unlike particleboard or MDF, this material is more resistant to warping or swelling due to humidity. It’s commonly used for vanities, storage cabinets, and medicine cabinets, providing a sturdy, moisture-resistant foundation. Custom Built-In Cabinets – It is often used for custom-built cabinets in homes and offices. Its versatility makes it ideal for personalized libraries, home office storage, and custom entertainment centers. Pantries and Utility Cabinets – In kitchens and utility rooms, pantry cabinets are essential for storing food, cleaning supplies, or tools. Cabinet-grade plywood is frequently used to construct these storage units, as it provides the structural integrity needed to hold large amounts of weight. Closets and Wardrobe Cabinets – For building wardrobes and closet systems in bedrooms or hallways, it is a popular choice, again due to its toughness. It is ideal for supporting hanging rods, shelves, and drawers, ensuring that even heavy clothing and accessories are stored securely.

Concrete Form Plywood
PG Wood Imports, founded in 2003, is a leading supplier of top-quality panel products, including film-faced plywood for concrete forming. This plywood is highly durable and resistant to moisture, making it perfect for construction projects that need reliable concrete forms. With multiple sizes, grades, and thicknesses available, our concrete form plywood is designed to meet the demands of any project, big or small. With warehouses across North America, we ensure quick delivery and consistently provide certified products composed of 100% Birch veneer that follow industry rules and support sustainable practices.
We are your go-to partner for high-quality, reliable concrete form plywood that delivers superior performance and durability every time.
Applications Where Concrete Form Plywood Can Be Used
Building Foundations – Concrete form plywood is used to create molds, or “forms,” for pouring concrete foundations into buildings. These forms ensure the concrete holds its shape as it hardens, providing a strong base for houses, offices, and factories.
Walls and Columns – Vertical structures like walls and columns in buildings are made using this plywood. The plywood holds the wet concrete in place until it sets, ensuring smooth, straight walls or sturdy round columns. Skyscrapers and parking garages often rely on this material to create their tall, load-bearing walls.
Slabs and Decks – For flat surfaces like floors and roofs, this plywood serves as a base to hold the concrete. In multi-story buildings, each floor’s slab is poured over plywood forms to create a solid, level surface that supports heavy loads. This ensures the floor can endure constant use without cracking or wearing out prematurely.
Precast Concrete – In factories, precast concrete elements like pipes, walls, and beams are molded using this plywood. These pieces are then transported to construction sites for quick assembly.
Retaining Walls – Retaining walls prevent soil from sliding or eroding on slopes. Concrete form plywood helps shape these walls during construction, making them strong and stable. Highways built through hilly areas often feature retaining walls formed with this material.
Curved and Custom Structures – Concrete form plywood can be bent or shaped for unique designs, like curved walls or decorative features in buildings. Architects often use it along with hardwood plywood for special projects like museums or theaters, where creative shapes are part of the design.
Product Specification
Thicknesses – 3mm to 40mm
Our concrete form plywood is available in a range of thicknesses, from 3mm (thin sheets) to 40mm (thick panels).
Thin Sheets (3mm-15mm): Used for lighter applications or when creating curved or decorative concrete structures, as these are easier to bend and shape.
Thicker Panels (18mm-40mm): Ideal for heavy-duty projects like tunnels, dams, and large industrial floors, where strength and durability are critical to supporting wet concrete under high pressure.
Here’s a detailed chart with all the available thickness, ply count, and corresponding thickness in millimeters for our concrete form plywood:

60×96: A large, rectangular panel size that’s commonly used in large-scale commercial or industrial projects.
48×96: A standard, versatile panel size ideal for projects that require easy handling and standard dimensions.
48×120: The largest of the standard panel sizes, often used for large-scale projects where a greater surface area is needed.
Cut-to-Size Panels: Custom sizes can be ordered to fit specific project requirements, minimizing waste and ensuring precision in complex designs.
Grades
The grading of plywood determines its surface quality and suitability for various applications:
B/BB Grade: The highest quality, with one smooth face (B) and a secondary, slightly less refined face (BB). Ideal for projects needing a high-quality finish.
BB/BB Grade: Both faces are of good quality, suitable for general construction requiring smooth surfaces.
BB/CP and CP/CP Grades: Good quality with slight variations in surface appearance, often used for standard concrete forms where aesthetics are less critical.
CP/C and C/C Grades: Lower grade, used for rough work or temporary structures where surface appearance is not a concern.
Glue Types – Interior (MR) and Exterior (WBP)
The type of glue used in our plywood determines its moisture resistance and durability:
Interior (MR – Moisture Resistant): Suitable for indoor applications or temporary forms that will not be exposed to prolonged moisture. Commonly used for short-term projects.
Exterior (WBP – Weather and Boil Proof): Designed for high moisture and outdoor conditions. This glue ensures the plywood can withstand repeated exposure to water, making it essential for long-term or large-scale projects like dams, bridges, and retaining walls.
So, don’t compromise on quality—contact us today to get the concrete form plywood and other furniture grade plywood that’s right for all your needs!

Furniture Grade Plywood
As a trusted plywood importer since 2003, PG Wood Imports provides top-quality furniture-grade plywood for various woodworking projects. Our collection includes various panel sizes, thicknesses, and grades suitable for light and heavy-duty projects. All our products are LACEY and CARB II certified, ensuring they meet the highest legal and environmental standards. Explore the key features of our plywood and see how it can enhance your next project with its versatility and reliability.
What are the Key Features of Our Furniture Grade Plywood?
Several features distinguish furniture-grade plywood from regular plywood, making it the material of choice for fine furniture construction. Below are the key features that make these stand out:
High-Quality Material Composition – Made from layers of high-quality veneers, it is often sourced from hardwoods like Baltic birch. Through this careful selection, our plywood is ensured to have a uniform structure free of knots, cracks, and voids. As a result, these are ideal for creating visible areas of furniture, such as the legs and bases of tables, chairs, sofas, and more, where both durability and aesthetic appeal are essential.
Durability and Strength – The multiple layers of veneer, known as plies, are arranged with alternating grains, enhancing the plywood’s resistance to warping, bending, and cracking. This structural strength allows it to withstand heavy loads and wear & tear, making it ideal for furniture such as bed frames, shelving units, and office desks.
Smooth Surface Finish – The absence of rough spots or imperfections in these plywoods ensures that paints, stains, and varnishes adhere evenly and produce a clean, professional finish. With this smoothness, furniture makers can create highly polished surfaces or apply high-end veneers, enhancing the aesthetics of the final product.
Resistance to Warping and Swelling – Unlike solid wood, which naturally expands or contracts with humidity, the layered structure of this plywood resists swelling, warping, and twisting. This ensures consistent performance of the furniture while preserving its strength and appearance.
Ease of Customization – Known for its versatility and ease of customization, furniture-grade plywood can be easily cut, drilled, and shaped without cracking or splintering. From detailed carvings to precise components, this plywood is ideal for creating intricate and custom furniture designs.
Applications for Which Furniture Grade Plywood Can Be Used
Here are some of the top applications of furniture-grade plywood—take a look: Cabinetry – This plywood is the best choice for building kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, and storage units due to its strength, durability, and smooth surface, which ensures a polished finish. Tables and Desks – Their sturdy and stable structure makes them perfect for crafting dining tables, office desks, and study tables that require durability and aesthetic appeal. Shelves and Bookcases – These plywoods are excellent for shelves and bookcases, ensuring longevity and stability under heavy weights due to their resistance warping and load-bearing capacity. Chairs and Stools – Furniture-grade plywood’s ability to be shaped into intricate designs without compromising structural integrity makes it an ideal choice for various seating types, including chairs, stools, and benches. Decorative Panels – Whether designing an accent wall, partition, or decorative panel, the material’s versatility in accepting various finishes seamlessly complements both modern and classic design styles. Upholstered Furniture Frames – It also provides a strong foundation for the internal frames of sofas, armchairs, and upholstered furniture, supporting padding and upholstery while ensuring long-lasting comfort and durability. Outdoor Furniture – When properly treated, furniture plywood can be used for outdoor furniture like patio tables and benches, offering stability and resistance to environmental changes. Custom Furniture – Its versatility enables the creation of personalized, one-of-a-kind pieces that perfectly fit specific spaces and design visions, enhancing any interior look with custom solutions. Remember, furniture-grade plywood offers strength and a smooth finish for visible furniture. In contrast, cabinet-grade plywood is used for hidden components due to its durability, though it is less aesthetically pleasing.
Product Specification
Take a look at the various product specifications we offer at PG Wood Imports to meet your project needs:
Thickness Options for Versatile Applications
At PG Wood Imports, furniture-grade plywood is available in various thicknesses options, from as thin as 1/8” (3mm) to as thick as 1-5/8” (40mm). Based on the intended application, you can choose the right thickness. For instance, thinner plywood (3mm to 9mm) is commonly used for lighter projects like veneers and decorative furniture. In comparison, thicker plywood (above 12mm) suits heavy-duty projects like tables, cabinets, and shelves, offering the necessary strength and load-bearing capacity.
Flexible Panel Sizes for Custom Projects
We offer furniture-grade plywood in a range of standard panel sizes to meet the diverse needs of furniture and cabinetry projects:
60×60 inches: Ideal for small furniture components like shelves, drawer fronts, or decorative panels.
60×72 inches: Provides extra length for medium-sized furniture pieces such as side tables or cabinet doors.
60×84 inches: Perfect for larger projects, including wider tabletops, cabinets, or bookcases.
60×96 inches: Suited for expansive furniture pieces or large, custom cabinetry work.
48×96 inches: A standard size offering flexibility in general furniture and cabinetry applications.
48×120 inches: Great for large, high-end projects, like long table surfaces.
In addition to these standard panel sizes, we also provide a cut-to-size option, allowing you to request custom dimensions tailored to your specific project requirements. This ensures a precise fit for unique or intricate furniture designs while minimizing waste, making it the perfect solution for custom furniture creations.
Varied Grades of Furniture-Grade Plywood
Furniture plywood comes in various grades, determining the balance of strength and appearance for different applications. Here’s a look at the different grading options and their differences:
B/BB: High-quality veneers with minimal imperfections, ideal for making visible furniture surfaces.
BB/BB: Smooth finish with slight variations, suitable for furniture with less demanding aesthetics.
BB/CP: High-quality outer layers with a lower-grade inner ply, used for non-visible furniture areas.
CP/CP: More imperfections, suitable for structural or hidden components.
CP/C: The lowest grade with visible defects in both layers, ideal for structural or hidden components where appearance is not a priority.
C/C: The lowest grade with noticeable defects, typically for non-exposed areas.
Glue Types
Furniture plywood is made using two types of adhesives, each providing varying degrees of moisture resistance. Interior (MR – Moisture Resistant) adhesive is ideal for dry, indoor environments, making it perfect for furniture like cabinets, tables, and shelves that are kept inside. In contrast, Exterior (WBP – Weather and Boil Proof) adhesive is designed for furniture such as patio tables exposed to outdoor conditions or higher humidity.

Film-Faced Plywood
Film-Faced Plywood
LaserPLY Form has become the concrete forming and shoring industry standard in North America. Baltic Birch laminated plywood and, specifically, LaserPLY Form allow for more pours per sheet than any other form plywood available. And because it has the same film density on both sides, not only on one side like most softwood form ply, both sides can be used allowing for even more pours if cared for correctly. Tight grain pattern, seamless patching and thickness calibrating sanding eliminate surface degradation and grain transfer allowing for a smooth pour every time. All edges are sealed with an acrylic paint which prevent moisture absorption and extends the life of the panel.
Laminated plywood has many other applications as well. PG Wood Imports offers a variety of films and colors which can be used for ATA boxes, truck liners, trailer beds and playgrounds.
